The Classical Coquette is a blog designed to bring classical music to non-musicians. Posts will aim to get people excited about classical pieces as well as educate them on music history.
Bailey Danielle Gilliam studied piano at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under Dr. Yakov Kasman until her graduation in 2017. She currently studies English with a concentration in Professional and Technical Writing at Indiana University East. She began her musical studies at the age of five, playing and singing in a variety of musical styles and eventually focusing on classical piano. Her performance credits include the Winston-Salem Symphony, UNCSA Symphony Orchestra, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Vermont, InterHarmony International Music Festival in Germany, Ticino Musica Festival in Switzerland, the Ambleside Art Gallery in North Carolina, UNCSA solo and chamber concerts, outreach concerts and guest master classes, and UAB solo, student showcase, faculty, and chamber recitals. Bailey is a first prizewinner in Greensboro Women’s Club Music Competition in 2011 and received an honorable mention at AMTA in 2016. Her other interests include musicology, collaborative piano, chamber music, violin, visual arts, and literature. She currently teaches piano and violin and is a freelance writer on all musical topics.
